Why do we Use Preservatives?

Be Bohemian - Why do We Use Preservatives? Be Bohemian Logo. An orange mermaid inside a circle with outlines of botanicals framing the circle. A perfect representation of botanicals mixing with sea extracts.

After years of careful deliberation, the founders of Be Bohemian sought to create a product that would be absolutely balanced and bring you the best effects when incorporated in your current skin care routine .

The actual number of ingredients ended up totalling 55 though they had originally started with 24. What ended up happening is that in their quest to create a brand new type of serum they had to figure out a way to mix oils and extracts in order to make them both potent and effective while also feeling luxurious on the skin.

In order to mix oils and extracts without spoiling them, it can be necessary to add certain preservatives. But Be Bohemian was passionate about not having a preservative heavy product, and so in order to bring preservatives down to a level that was acceptable to them, they also ended up adding more oils and extracts to balance the formula.

In the end, Vegan Amino Acids, which ultimately balance the formula, were expanded and each one is listed in order to be fully transparent in their packaging and ingredients list.

Another item that was added to the serum in order to create balance was a naturally derived sodium, which is naturally occurring in the body, and in this case derived from plants.

One thing learned through this process of balancing natural ingredients with lab supported and mainly naturally derived ingredients, is that you sometimes still need to add synthetic ingredients in order to balance out the formula and pH levels. For the botanical sea serum, these are relatively low on the list of ingredients, meaning that there are such small amounts that they are really only there to help preserve the product and make sure that every ingredient in the Botanical Sea Serum is performing at its best.

What you'll find in many other products is much higher concentrations of these synthetic ingredients, which tend to help with the consistency and feel of the serum. In order to put your mind at ease, Be Bohemian created this blog post to further explain exactly how all of those ingredients come together to bring you the beautiful and enriching Botanical Sea Serum.
