Ahh, The Bohemian Lifestyle

Do you know a bohemian, one with artistic or literary interests who clearly disregards conventional standards of behavior? Maybe you think of yourself as a modern day bohemian.

Bohemians come in many different shapes and sizes and names. Beatnik, flower child, maverick, free thinker, individualist, radical are a few names that come to mind. If you think of yourself and avant-garde, groovy, offbeat, cool, contemporary or unconventional then you might just be the free spirit that so many others want to be.

Some of our modern day bohemians such as Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie get the label of being a cool, New Age, liberal hipster. I am not so sure they would fit some of the other characteristics associated with the beatnik lifestyle such as modernistic, peacenik, freethinking, original or eccentric even if they do wear the latest tunics, thongs or bikinis. Though you might catch them wearing some bling bling.

If you are a nonconforming, offbeat citizen of this world, you might have heard words like wierdo, swinger, schismatic, malcontent, oddball, protestor, dissentient, eccentic, liberal being used to describe you or your behavior. So what, live the bohemian lifestyle! Live a little!

Bohemians often get categorizied as being coarse, vulgar, unusual, wierd, freaky, idiosyncratic, novel, and even an oddball. Not all of the descriptions are so harsh - dashing, casual, jaunty, sporty and unconventional also describe the lifestyle.

So, if you don't seem to have a care in the world, and want to spend time with the free thinkers of the world who have no intention of conforming to the rest of the world and see the world as a cool, groovy, far out place to hang your denim duds on, then be that person!
